“The Integratron is an acoustically perfect tabernacle sited on a powerful geomagnetic vortex in the magical Mojave Desert” – The Integratron website
I love the Integratron.
It is an amazing all-wood structure which is unique in itself, but the reason it exists makes it even more special to me.
During the 1950’s and 60’s Landers was the location of one of the largest UFO gatherings, centered around Giant Rock Airport and a man named George Van Tassel. A number of flying saucer activities took place here, and during one summer night Van Tassel was visited by space brothers from Venus who told him to build the structure now known as The Integratron. They gave him plans and told him it would help rejuvenate human beings, recharging us like batteries to live longer, healthier lives.
It took over twenty years to build and in the late 1970’s, just as it neared completion – George Van Tassel, a very healthy individual – died from a surprising and sudden heart attack. Not surprisingly there was hushed talk of foul play… and the Integratron was never turned on, it’s rejuvenation equipment disappeared, and the shell of the structure sat unused and mostly forgotten on it’s lot in Landers.
Years later, in 2000, the building was purchased by the Karl sisters, and it started on the path to it’s present incarnation as an acoustically perfect environment, and home of the world-famous sound baths.
